Naruko AM+PM Mandelic Acid Toner GIVEAWAY!

I hope you all found my last post on How to Use Acids in Your Skincare Routine helpful. As luck would have it, Rachel at Naruko US recently reached out to me and suggested that we give away 10 (yes TEN) bottles of the Naruko AM+PM Mandelic Acid Toner. I wasn’t about to say no to such a generous giveaway!

Rachel sent me a bottle of the toner to try out so I could give you guys a mini-review of it.

Naruko’s AM+PM line is aimed at busy people who need their skincare products to pack a punch, so the AM+PM products are packed full of proven actives that show results quickly.

I’m already a HUGE fan (did anyone read that “YUGE”?) of the Naruko A40 Pore Minimizing Complex (4% Retinol) from the AM+PM line, and I also really like the 5% Mandelic Acid serum, which is a gentle AHA serum that can be used every night to brighten and smooth the skin.

It’s rare to see an Asian company producing products with so many great active ingredients, so kudos to Naruko =).

Naruko AM+PM Mandelic Acid Skin Renewal Brightening Toner

The Naruko Mandelic Acid Toner is a clear liquid, slightly thicker than water. It tingled very, very slightly as I patted it into my skin, which I expect in an acid toner. My skin is dehydrated and quite sensitive and tingling, alas, has not been uncommon this winter. The tingling faded and the toner absorbed very quickly, leaving my skin feeling soft and lightly hydrated.

This toner includes humectants like glycerin and a few different types of hyaluronic acid to moisturize your skin and combat whatever irritation may occur as a result of the mandelic acid exfoliation (though mandelic acid is generally known as one of the most gentle acids).

I tested the pH of the Naruko Mandelic Acid Toner as very slightly less than 4, which means it is able to exfoliate but it’s quite gentle as acids go.

I was only able to use the toner for about a week, which is far less than my usual testing period, so I’m not able to report on any results. I wanted to get this giveaway out so you guys can get your products sooner (and plus I have plans for another giveaway in the works!).

Purified water, glycerin, arginine, mandelic acid, propylene glycol, tranexamic acid, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin, chlorphenesin, saccharide isomerate, socium PCA, trehalose, sorbitol, panthenol, sodium hyaluronate, urea, polyquaternium-51, sea water, cucurbita pepo seed extract, citric acid, benzyl alcohol, potassium sorbate, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, hydroxyethylcellulose, sodium acetate, isopropyl alcohol, cellulose, xanthan gum, PPG-26-buteth-26, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, essential oils of lavender, eucalyptus, marjoram, thyme, clary sage, rosemary, ho wood, sodium hyaluronate, hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid

Some great ingredients in there! Mandelic acid! Tranexamic acid! Sodium Hyaluronate! Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate (licorice extract)! It’s like they took all my favorite ingredients and put it in a bottle!

Brightens and smooths skin. Refines enlarged pores.

Directions: Pour a quarter-sized amount onto a cotton pad. Apply gently all over the face and avoid contact with the eye area. Do not use in conjunction with other products which contains high levels of mandelic acid, vitamin A, vitamin C, salicylic acid, and alpha hydroxy acid.

I’ll let you decide how you interpret “other products which contains high levels of mandelic acid…etc…” High levels will differ depending on the person. However, if you’re just starting out with AHAs, I’d start with just this toner for a few weeks until your skin gets used to it. If you’re an acid-using veteran, well, use your own judgment as to how to combine this with other products.
