Last week, I was lucky enough to receive a free Yesstyle Beauty Box to review. This version of the Yesstyle Beauty Box is the Skincare Essentials edition for Normal to Combination Skin. This particular box retails for $33.88 on Yesstyle.com.
A little background about Yesstyle.com, if you’ve never ordered from them before. This is a large fashion and beauty retailer that is based in Hong Kong. They sell clothing, accessories, and beauty products from Asia. Their site can be a bit overwhelming at first, because they have SO MUCH on there, so I usually use it when I’m looking for a particular item.
Yesstyle does have good sales sometimes on specific items — for example, I got my Ladykin Vampir Dark Repair Cream (reviewed) on their site on sale for $11 (down from $40), and I routinely buy my Cosrx Pimple Patches there for cheaper than I can find anywhere else. Their prices fluctuate a lot, so sometimes a product can be way overpriced, and other times way underpriced. I do find that they ship my items quickly and reliably, and they have free worldwide shipping over $35. What I appreciate about them is that they carry Taiwanese, Japanese, and Korean beauty products, so I can put them all in one order.
Yesstyle Beauty Box – Skincare Essentials
Yesstyle has put together its own beauty box for you to try out different brands and products. This is NOT a subscription box; you must buy each box individually. This particular version, the Skincare Essentials Box, includes 5 full-size and 5 sample-size items. To be honest, I think $34 is a little steep for this box — especially given that they count sheet masks as full-size items. But it’s definitely a fun gift for someone who’s exploring KBeauty and perhaps starting out with their skincare routine.
The Skincare Essentials Box includes:
- RiRe Style Black Head Brush Cleanser (20ml) | Full Size $7.72
- Etude House AC Clean Up Toner (15ml) | Sample Size
- Etude House AC Clean Up Pink Powder Mask (20ml) | Sample Size
- Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack (20g) | Full Size $3.60
- REPIEL Smart Hair Mask Magic Steam (1 piece) | Full Size $5.44
- COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch (1 sheet /24 pieces) | Full Size $3.45
- AGATHA Essentiel Emulsion (10ml) | Sample Size
- AGATHA Essentiel Skin (10ml) | Sample Size
- Etude House Honey Cera Cream (10ml) | Sample Size
- Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Pocket Lip Balm (3.8g) | Full Size $6.36
Posted Value of Box: $49.90
List value of full-size products: $26.57
This is definitely a “younger” box, with mostly lower-end “cute” brands like Etude House and Tony Moly. My 5-year old immediately commandeered the panda lip balm, of course, which is actually really cute and seems to be in a decent quality little compact. All of these products can be used together to form a complete skin care routine.
The gift box itself is lovely. I love the colors, and it’s a sturdy, dense cardboard that feels very well made. I’ll have to find a way to repurpose it!
I’ve been wanting to try the Etude House Honey Cera Cream for a while. I know it’s an inexpensive brand, but honey and ceramides are among my favorite skincare ingredients, so I’m happy the Yesstyle beauty box included this deluxe 10ml sample. My first impression is that it’s quite a dense, thick cream, which I’m hopeful will work well for my dehydrated skin.
One of the full-size items in the Yesstyle beauty box was this RiRe Blackhead Brush Cleanser. It has a silicone brush on it. You squeeze the cleanser out onto the brush and rub it on and around your nose to dislodge blackheads. It’s definitely a fun idea. It’ll be interesting to see if it works.
Alcohol is the second ingredient in the Etude House AC Clean Up Toner, so needless to say, I will not be trying it. The AC Pink Powder Mask is a clay mask with calamine and a bunch of other acne-fighting ingredients — I’m lucky that, at 34, I don’t suffer from acne much anymore, but I might keep this around to spot-treat hormonal blemishes.
I’ve never heard anything about Agatha skincare. From a quick Google, it seems like it’s a pretty inexpensive brand too. I guess this is going in my overflowing sample stash!
My five-year-old daughter was entranced by the Tony Moly panda lip balm. It IS super cute, but I think it’s a bit odd that this is included as one of the full-size items, as it is TINY. I would have loved to get maybe the Aritaum ginger sugar lip mask instead if they needed to include a lip product.
The Cosrx Acne Pimple Patches and Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack were both counted as full-size items. While I don’t think that the Benton mask really is a full-size value, it is an excellent mask. It’s very soothing and hydrating, and good for all skin types. The Cosrx patches are also excellent, and I buy them from Yesstyle all the time. If I have a pimple that’s come to a head or if I’ve had a clogged pore extracted at a facial, these patches suck all the gunk out and flatten the blemish down overnight.
The final full-size product in this box was this hair mask. I’m actually pretty happy to get this as my hair has been like straw ever since I colored it, so I hope this infuses my hair with a bit of moisture and life.
I think the Yesstyle Beauty Box – Skincare Essentials is a fun box that would make a great gift for someone in their teens or early twenties. There isn’t much in it for anyone older than that demographic, who might have more anti-aging concerns. To be fair, this box is listed for people with normal to combination skin, so definitely won’t suit people with dry skin.
To be quite honest, while some of the products are fun, I think this box is pretty overpriced. I’m sure I could buy all of the products in the box for less than $34 and definitely less than the “value” of the box at $49.90. All the full-size items only cost $26.57 on Yesstyle.com, and I’m pretty sure the deluxe samples aren’t that valuable. I hope they reduce the price of this box, because it would be a good value at $20 or even $25!
What do you guys think? Do any of the products in this beauty box sound interesting to you?
Disclosure: I received this box for free from Yesstyle.com in exchange for a fair and honest review. I was not paid to write this review and all opinions are my own.
