Several weeks ago I was approached by Our Happy Box, an online skincare retailer, to see if I wanted to try and review some of the products from the RYOR skincare brand. I had never heard of this brand before, but I was intrigued when a quick Google revealed that RYOR skincare is a well-known skincare brand in the Czech Republic. I was especially interested when I found out that RYOR has a history of working with women’s charities – in particular, donating their Amaranth cream to women recovering from breast cancer. Our Happy Box, their US distributor, continues that tradition by donating a portion of their proceeds to a chosen charity each month.
Christine from Our Happy Box generously sent over the RYOR Argan Oil line of products when I told her that I was starting to look into anti-aging products. I patch tested them for a week, and then incorporated them into my regular routine morning and night for 2 weeks. Here is what I thought.

RYOR Skincare Argan Oil Line Review
First Impressions of Ryor Skincare
I’ll say honestly that I wish the packaging felt a little more luxurious. The plastic pump bottles, while SO SO practical (and I do SO appreciate putting creams in pump bottles) just look and feel a little utilitarian. However, the airless pump bottles do work very, very well. They’re hygienic, and they easily dispense the perfect amount of product while keeping out light and air. And after using them for a while, the design is growing on me =).
Our Happy Box sent me the RYOR Argan Oil Day Cream, Night Cream, Serum, and lip balm. I noticed right away how silky and high quality the creams and serum felt, and that they had very little scent – just enough to make the experience of applying them pleasant. I can be a little sensitive to fragrance, so I appreciate this. I also thought the ingredients lists were excellent – as you’ll see below.
RYOR Argan Oil Night Cream
Ingredients: Aqua, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Diethylhexyl Carbonate, Potassium Olivoyl Hydrolyzed Oat Protein, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Oleate, Glyceryl Stearate, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Isopropyl Myristate, Glycerin, Cetyl Palmitate, Sorbitan Palmitate, Sorbitan Oleate, Oleyl Erucate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Carboxymethyl Betaglucan, Hydrolyzed Silk, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Laminaria Ochroleuca Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline, Lecithin, Phenoxyethanol, Mannitol, Beta Sitosterol, Linoleic Acid, Tocopherol, Sodium Ascorbate, Diazolidinyl Urea, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Lactic Acid, Parfum, Buthylphenyl Methylpropional, Citronellol, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Linalool
My skin is kind of finicky. It is quite dehydrated and requires a lot of moisture, so gel creams generally don’t cut it for me. But at the same time I hate the feeling of a heavy cream on my face. The RYOR Argan Oil Night Cream turns out to be the perfect product for me. It’s a medium-to-lightweight cream that spreads out beautifully into a silky thin layer.
The moisturizers in the RYOR argan oil night cream come from oils like avocado, argan, and oil esters which are suitable for sensitive skin, and also includes hydrolyzed silk, the antioxidant beta-glucan (which helps as an anti-wrinkle and firming ingredient as well), and vitamins C and E. I love the reliance on oils to moisturize instead of silicones, as the oils have beneficial properties for the skin and for me, absorb and moisturize much better.
After you spread this silky cream over your skin, there is plenty of slip so if you want to gently massage it into your skin, you can do that, or you can just pat it in until it absorbs. It doesn’t take much time for the RYOR argan oil night cream to absorb, and after it does, my skin feels plump and moisturized but without any stickiness or tackiness, and without leaving a film over my face. As a last layer, the RYOR Argan Oil Night Cream is able to keep my skin soft and moisturized all night, without my having to add a facial oil. Most of the creams I’ve been using lately, much as I love them, have not been able to do that without having a boost from an oil (even after a hydrating routine). So that’s pretty amazing. The RYOR Argan Oil Night Cream does the job of a much heavier cream, while feeling light on the skin. And if you’ve been wanting to incorporate a facial oil, this oil-rich cream is a perfect starting point.
RYOR Argan Oil Day Cream
Ingredients: Aqua, Persea Gratissima Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Sucrose Stearate, Sucrose Tristearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Sodium Polyacrylate, Xylitol, Caprylic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Oleyl Erucate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Laminaria Ochroleuca Extract, Xylityl Glucoside, Anhydroxylitol, Xylitol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Diazolidinyl Urea, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Panthenol, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Lactic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Parfum, Buthylphenyl Methylpropional, Citronellol, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Eugenol, Linalool
At first, I thought that RYOR Argan Oil Day Cream felt very similar to the night cream, and it does contain many similar ingredients, such as avocado and argan oils. However, it also contains sodium hyaluronate to boost the water content of your skin. The Argan Oil day cream feels fluffier and less slippery than the night cream, and leaves a little bit more of a satin finish instead of a shine. I feel like the day cream plumps the skin a little more from within and feels slightly less oily. But it still does an admirable job of keeping the moisture in my skin. I can tell you that the day cream keeps my skin happy all day but isn’t so oily that my makeup slides off. Again, I found another winner with this skin care product.
RYOR Argan Oil Serum
Ingredients: Aqua, Sodium Hyaluronate, Potassium Olivoyl Hydrolyzed Oat Protein, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Oleate, Glyceryl Stearate, Isopropyl Myristate, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Laminaria Ochroleuca Extract, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Oleyl Erucate, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Lactic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Diazolidinyl Urea, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate
I’m a huge sucker for a milky serum. I don’t know why, I just love the texture. Show me a milky serum and I’ll pull out my wallet. So the RYOR Argan Oil Revitalizing Serum was definitely up my alley. It has kind of a medium serum consistency and feels nice and plush on the skin. But it absorbs pretty much completely without leaving a residue on the skin. Despite being called an “argan oil serum”, it doesn’t feel oily after it’s absorbed, but just nicely hydrating and moisturizing. Because of the medium consistency, I use this after my more watery hydrating toners and serums. It adds another layer of hydrating and slightly richer moisture and softens my skin up.
I think that if I needed to, I could easily use the RYOR Argan Oil Serum as my sole serum product, in conjunction with the argan oil creams and a watery toner.
A few notes about the RYOR Argan Oil skincare products:
- I think the RYOR Argan Oil skin care product line is priced very reasonably for the quality. The creams are priced at $22 and the serum at $28 (currently on sale for $22).
- You might have noticed that the ingredients lists for these products include lactic acid. While I think the concentration of lactic acid is very low in these products (and not at a low enough pH to exfoliate), it is an AHA and can therefore be photosensitizing. So you should make sure you’re using sunscreen during the day (which I hope you are anyway).
- The three products come in almost identical packaging, which makes it a little difficult to know which one is which without looking closely. Maybe on their next repackage this could be considered, as well as the possibility of slightly more luxurious feeling bottles (?).
- I usually try to find the pros and cons of each product I review, but honestly I couldn’t find any cons (other than my little gripe about the packaging). My skin loves the serum and creams. I had no irritation, no breakouts; in fact, I would definitely reach for these creams if I had a reaction to another product as they contain such nourishing and soothing ingredients.
RYOR Lip Balm with Argan Oil
Ingredients: Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Persea Gratissima Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ricinus Communis Seed Oil, Rhus Verniciflua Peel Cera/Rhus Succedanea Fruit Cera, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopherol, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Cera Alba, Parfum, Limonene, Eugenol
My lips are perpetually dry, so I asked Our Happy Box if they could send along the argan oil lip balm as well, and I’ve been using it as a lip treatment at night for the last few weeks. This lip balm feels slippery, similar to Vaseline, but it doesn’t contain any petroleum products — instead the emollients come from shea butter, avocado oil, and various other plant oils and oil esters.
I find that this lip balm has a floral/botanical scent and flavor that might put off some people, but I actually quite enjoy. All the oils in it do a great job of softening my lips, but because it has a thinner, non-sticky consistency, I find that I wipe it off quite easily when I’m tossing and turning at night. So I think this might be better suited to a day treatment.
If I didn’t have many other creams in the testing lineup (for the sake of reviewing on the blog), I would most likely repurchase the RYOR Argan Oil serum and creams. They have excellent quality ingredients, little to no fillers, and feel cosmetically elegant. The best thing, for me, is that they are ultra-moisturizing without feeling heavy, and do a superb job of softening, moisturizing, and keeping the moisture in my skin.
I think these products are more suitable for skin in the normal-dry range, and are great for those of us interested in anti-aging!
